What is the normal/appropriate timeline to eat at a wedding?

Post Body

I was invited to a wedding that was broken down like this: ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, reception. The other weddings I’ve been to had appetizers or something small to snack on during the cocktail hour before prime time dinner. However, at this wedding the ceremony started at 3 and ended at 3:45. Then bridal party took pictures and bride and groom had first dances and they announced dinner at 6:30. The cocktail hour was bring your own booze with no appetizers or snacks and after traveling to be there I was exhausted from not having a proper meal. I’m curious if this is a normal timeline? In my experience during the cocktail hour a little bit of food and drink is supplied, I was a little surprised there was only a prime time dinner.
