Is it rude to back out on a vendor after they fill out a contract but before you sign it?

The hair/makeup vendor I thought I wanted for my wedding just sent over a contract after I told her I’d love to move forward with her. We’ve emailed back and forth about details (price, how many services would be required, etc). This is partially my fault for not calculating the added gratuity, tax and booking fee beforehand, but I found the total price in the contract to be way over what I’d like to spend for this piece of my wedding (total for 10 services, hair and makeup for my bridesmaids and myself: $2,405). I’m also worried that since all these services are in the contract (and my wedding is a little over a year away) that doesn’t allow for much flexibility in terms of my bridesmaids changing their minds on what they’d like. I’ve found a couple other vendors that are less expensive and more flexible. I’m mostly curious about etiquette in this situation and what the best way of going about it is.
