How do I get better at CSS?

I've been coding for over a year now and am pretty up to date on the JavaScript side of things (node, react, redux) but what consistently kicks my ass is the CSS.

I constantly have to look up how to do things and am never sure if this way really is the best practice. I've used SaSS and other preprocessors but I've found my actual skills (not tooling) is very mediocre. I want to dedicate time to it,but not sure where to start or what to focus on.

How did you get better at CSS?
