I'm a uni student and I started a small web/graphic design business a few months ago to make some money and gain some experience. It's going pretty well - I've done a few websites, have some interesting projects on and one fairly major client.
I got an e-mail from a potential new client a few days ago and in the few e-mails we've exchanged they seem kind of rude, disrespectful and cheap. It's actually getting me down a little just thinking about them. Plus, they want to meet but it means an hour's bus journey for me (plus the money for the ticket).
But I can't stop thinking that, in these early days of my business, it's worth taking whatever I can get because I don't know where it could lead (like they might put other people on to me in the future. Plus, the money looks like it might be pretty decent (if I can get him to agree to my price - he didn't outright say he wouldn't pay that)
Any advice? Have you turned down clients before? How and why?
