Not sure if this is the right subreddit, but thought I'd ask here:
I've been working on higher education websites for years as a content editor. However, I just started a new job at a new college, and their website has a LOT of accessibility issues. I know quite a lot about accessibility, but I've gained all my knowledge through experience, word of mouth from bosses and coworkers, etc. And now I may be tasked to join or even lead a committee dedicated to making the website as accessible as possible.
Where can I find trustworthy and up-to-date info on web accessibility standards? I know of this website https://www.w3.org/WAI/fundamentals/accessibility-intro/ , but it's kind of dense and a little confusing to navigate. If anyone could offer any other websites or resources that can speak to web accessibility, especially for higher education websites, I would be quite thankful.
Note: I work mostly with the content of websites, but I know my way around HTML and need to understand accessibility in the code, too. So resources for both would be welcome.
Thanks so much.
