Question for weather experts - downloadable US daily observation dataset?

Hi,
I'm no weather expert - I have a mild interest in climate zones / types and would like a dataset that will help me understand regional humidity / dew points across the continental USA. The NOAA site is hard to decipher and doesn't seem to have the type of data that I'm looking for. Anyone know where I can go?
