Irish speakers in 1871. Makes you sad how rapidly the language declined since. County Waterford a traditional stronghold of the language.

Sorry but, teachers have as much to do with the decline as anything else. My secondary education was appalling. The teacher basically made us memorise 1 short paragraph of Irish each night for homework. That was it. Many experience the same. Irish teachers have a lot to answer for
