Subreddit: user flair to show in-game name
Post Body

I dunno about all of you, but I'm not quite managing to keep everyone's Reddit vs. Minecraft usernames straight. I've just enabled an experiment, in the form of user-editable user "flair". If this ends up working, great! If not, we can disable it again and pretend it never happened.

How this could work

My thought is that our user flair on this subreddit will allow us to associate our Minecraft usernames with our Reddit usernames. As an example, take a look at the way my Reddit username currently appears. Obviously it's a little redundant for me to do this, because my usernames are the same, but it works as an example.

Instructions

  • Over on the right sidebar, near the top, there is a line that says: Show my flair on this reddit. It looks like: <username> (edit)
  • Click on the "edit" link. It will bring up the flair selector.
  • Click on "IGN: your IGN here". This will bring up a little edit box.
  • Delete the text from that box, and enter your Minecraft username.
  • Click 'save'

Please give it a try and let me know what you think. Should we keep this? I know I would personally find it helpful in connecting everyone's names. :)

If this works...

If we end up keeping this, I have some ideas of how to make it look a little nicer, maybe do a hover-expand the way the Mindcrack subreddit does, and so on. I'll plan to look into that a little later.

Edit: Originally required you to add the "IGN: " prefix yourself, but that is now automated.
