So to preface this, Iāve been a fan for a long time but I stopped watching the day of the Wall trade. I would tap into games when Beal was the star, and that was a train wreck. With this new squad I was interested in coming back but ehā¦
With the news of this team move I was kinda surprised but also a bit devastated. I live so close to Potomac Yard and the thought of them adding an arena sounds like a fever dream. The fact that they didnāt even TALK to WMATA about this move is a giant red flag. Donāt get me started on the roads because there is no way they can handle game day congestion. I get the āconvenienceā that comes with the idea for us Virginians but DC is literally in the middle for VA and MD fans. I get we are going to basically blow up the team and going full rebuild but we are getting rid of any team history/culture. Ex) you canāt play āWelcome to DCā at the start of games anymore.
This idea sucks and itās clearly only being done for money as usual. The only ābright sideā I can kinda see is if development and planning take as long as it has for Landmark Mall, itāll be another decade before anything is built!š
