Metro bus question regarding the stop at 30th and Legation

We're new to DC so if anyone is old hat at the bus thing and wants to help, we'd appreciate it. I'm trying to figure out how to get from my house near 30th and Legation to the Friendship Heights station. The timetables only list the stop at 30th and Nebraska, which is a block away, but I swear to god there's one at Legation.
Metro also has that stop listed twice, with two different stop ID numbers.
WTF and help.
