So I've only been at Walmart for 2 months. When I first applied I put in an application to be a Service Technician out in the auto shop. The manager of the shop called me and asked if I would be okay working out on the floor as a sales associate. He also told me that he would cross-train me out in the shop and move me out there eventually. Since I was really needed a job I decided to go with it. We have no DM so I feel like I am doing anything. I may not know a lot about cars but I know enough to do the job in the shop. They have hired 2 new people in the past month for out in the shop and I've heard nothing about getting cross trained. I asked my manager about it and he told me that he really needs me on the floor and "I'm not comfortable having a girl in the shop because the things we say can get pretty vulgar. We don't want to have anyone report us for the things we say."
I think I would have been more okay with them saying that they don't want me out in the shop because of lack of experience. But the fact that im a girl is the reason why I can't go in the shop. I dont know what to do but now I don't want to go back to work. I'm worn out already getting no help and one of my coworkers yelled at me because apparently I'm "getting lazy."
Should I file a report for sexual discrimination and quit or just put up with it?
