Good cop/Bad Cop and Consistently Inconsistent
Post Body

I've been doing O/N stocking for a little over a month now. I originally wanted Monday/Tuesdays off. The main AM for O/N had trouble getting people to work M/T because of the managers present, so I reluctantly changed my availability. On Mondays/Tuesdays there is a AM that we will call Susan, and a support manager that we will call Jack. On the other days, most everyone is there, on these days it is typical to have 5 call-offs. So we are already short staffed coming out of the gate. My second and third weeks, anytime I had my phone out and Susan walked by she would freak out and say something like "If Jack catches you on your phone on the floor, that is an instant coaching. He is very adamant about no phones on the floor." Many times Jack has also seen me on my phone, most of the time for BYOD, but I do check my phone and respond to messages if I need to, but he has never said anything directly to me about it.

Also, last week Susan asked then I typically take my lunch break, I said 2am, but can I take it at a different time? She said you can take it from 3-4 but if you leave, at 4am I have to let you in the employee entrance when the 4am people get here. The next day I took my lunch from 3-4 without a hitch, I didn't leave the building and it wasn't a problem. Last night, I took my lunch break from 3-4, and Jack comes into the breakroom, acting all upset, asking when I went to lunch, I said 3am, He said I need to take my lunch from 2-3, so that Susan can keep track of where everyone is. I just said okay. I did some shopping and took the items to my car when the 4am people came in and went by where Susan was checking in the employees and taking their temperature and she said nothing about it.

Seems like they always want to cause a ruckus and blame it on the other manager that isn't around at the time. This good cop/bad cop routine is driving me crazy, and giving out inconsistent information and saying that it grinds the gears of the manager that isn't present, is really absurd, especially when they gave me permission to do something that you now say they are bitching about....
