Hello all you lovelies, I wanted to stop by this subreddit to give you all the best holiday wishes.
I want to give some context on why I appreciate y'all so much. Two years ago my car broke down on vacation and I had to stay and find a job in Georgia. I passed the "I have a pulse" test and starting working at Walmart. I quite liked all the people I got to meet being a cashier but there was so many problems I had with my managers. The job can be very dehumanizing for anyone, and it was quite difficult for me. My managers treated me very poorly because I was transgender and would casually discriminate against me time to time. I ended up losing my job because of who I am as a person after about half a year of working there. This subreddit and my coworkers kept me going and made me feel less alienated and I have so much appreciation.
As a new hire what was at the back of my mind was how dreadful the holiday season was going to be. I sure you all understand that most of Walmart's BS gets amplified this time of year. I never had to work though a holiday season, but I want to extend my gratitude to everyone that has. Workers like y'all is what our society depends on, and so many people will take that for granted. Now that this holiday season is wrapping up shortly, I hope you all can enjoy some time with your friends and family. This job can be alienating, but there are many people out there that have appreciation for you like I do.
TL;DR : I worked at Walmart for half a year without having to go through the stress of the holiday season, and I would like to extend my gratitude and solidarity to those who have. This job can be alienating, but there are thousands of others that have sincere gratitude even if they don't show it. Happy Holidays, y'all deserve it. <3
