Gonna keep it simple for the tards
DD:
ViacomCBS(🚀🚀) is a media & entertainment company. They own CBS, Showtime, Paramount, Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, BET, & a few others. So they own a shit load of content.
To deliver this content, they have:
Pluto TV
- free streaming service that's been growing at a crazy pace.
- No subscriber revenue, but lots of ad revenue.
- Motley fool - "While PlutoTV reached $1 million in daily advertising sales in 2019, it has already achieved its first $3 million day this year. Furthermore, ViacomCBS markets its paid products -- CBS All Access and SHOWTIME -- to Pluto customers. Based on rapid subscriber growth on the paid side, that seems to be working well. "
- This service is underrated. It allows companies to generate ad revenue from their old content.
CBS All Access
- soon to be rebranded as Paramount .
- Main focus of investor day.
- Huge catalog with access to live tv and sports.
- Motley Fool - " In Viacom's most recent quarter, it was its streaming business that stood out. Revenues for the segment grew to $636 million year over year, representing 56% growth. Its domestic subscribers jumped to 17.9 million, which prompted CEO Bob Bakish to raise his company's year-end subscriber target for the second straight quarter. "
Showtime
- This is their premium content service
VIAC is a huge netflix competitor with free content, live TV & sports, and a huuuuge content library of popular titles.
Here's the kicker. VIAC market cap: 27b. Netflix market cap: 256b.
There is huge potential here because VIAC is not being treated as a streaming service but rather a content creator like fox or mgm.
Catalyst:
Investor day 2/24
Earnings in February, exact date TBD
The play:
ANYTHING on or after 3/19/21 45-60c 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
Edit: forgot to mention, guess who's hosting the superbowl this year. You guessed it, streaming on CBS. They're also hosting the Masters (golf) if you're into that
