A MK2 LVL 12 Orkan does 18,609 damage in 1 full second, at 300m.
A MK2 LVL12 Shocktrain does 18,606 damage in under 1 second, at 500m, not counting chain damage.
People have argued that the Shocktrain doesn't do that much damage and isn't a problem... well, it kinda does look like a long range surgical Orkan. And the problem starts when bots have so many medium weapon slots to stack the damage it can do... not to mention stealth jumps and high strength shields.. with dashes..
Why not bring out a bot with 12 Medium slots?
Seriously why not? War Robots' bot design is arbitrary. If the robot frame for Spectre can support four medium slots, and still have high speed and a high jumping ability, why can't Lancelot have two heavy slots? Why can't Haechi have four? There's certainly room on the bot for it. War Robots bot physiology bears absolutely no relevant to it's weapon capacity.
And Falcon? Having two puny micro shields also absorb splash damage? Who with the what now? Sure it's a fantasy game with fantasy physics, but now even well established game physics are being bent.. which brings me back to Shocktrain..
Coupled with the Shocktrain bug where the chain damage goes through all obstacles and ignores physical shields, Shocktrains are still the dominating force in Champion League.
Often times I'll come up against an enemy squad who are all running quad Shocktrain Spectres and triple Shocktrain Bulgasari, on a map that has several choke points (carrier, moon) that make it unavoidable to get constantly zapped to death from all angles, even when I'm;
- behind cover that blocks line of sight from the enemy
- behind cover that blocks line of sight from the enemy and blocks line of sight from my team, but within 150m from a team member
- well out of range of the enemy but the chain effect goes through every obstacle as it daisy chains through several team members
- trying to maintain distance from my team but canβt be precise because there is no distance measure in the HUD that allows me to manage my distance
Any strategy flies out the window when I'm being shot through the floor and ceiling.
"Stay >150m away from team members" - how am I supposed to do that effectively when there's no HUD distance measurement of my team? And most maps contain constrained areas? And the shocktrain beams go through what should be solid objects?
How about this? Just make the Shocktrain pass through everything and call it a feature.
Why should the primary Shocktrain shot even require line of sight? Just make it go through any obstacle so it can be used at any time. Hell, increase the range... why not?
And it turns out there's more Shocktrains in the works.. images of a light Shocktrain are doing the rounds, and quite likely a heavy Shocktrain will follow.
