Hello!!
I’ve been teetering on the edge of getting a Wacom Cintiq pro 24 for quite some time. I’m ready to take the plunge price wise (except I’m realizing all the add ons I’ll want are even more $$$), but I would absolutely love some advice first
For my main device I have a fully souped up MacBook Pro 2018. I don’t use a monitor typically but would love the extra working space a 24 provides (and I like working in my lap)
In terms of programs I use photoshop, illustrator, Maya, premiere pro, substance painter, zbrush, blender, and after effects primarily (and Spark AR studio - instagrams augmented reality platform).
I definitely want a touch screen for panning and rotating things. And I’d love to be able to rotate the pen tip, it seems like I’d need to upgrade to the artists pen for that?
Based off of the programs I use and what I’m looking for, is this worth the price? Anyone else who does 3D work does a drawing tablet like this really improve overall workflow?
Basically I don’t want to drop 3k if this isn’t going to be the right hardware solution for me, or if there’s some major compatibility issue with my model of laptop that I’m not aware of 😖
Any advice or opinions are very much appreciated!!!
CONCERNS
I read something weird about the usbc ports running at usb 2.0 speeds to accommodate 4K video bandwidth over usbc, is this a big issue? Like will I notice screen flickering or severely reduced working speeds? (Since my laptop only has usbc ports?)
Fan noises and heat regulation...if I plop this thing on a pillow in my lap am I going to catch on fire? Will the fans reach deafening levels?
(I’m sorry I’m breaking the purchase advice post rule but I just started using Reddit and can’t find that thread on mobile 🥺ðŸ˜)
