Is there any way to salvage my Bamboo Create? (Hardware issue)

Post Body

I've had the same Bamboo Create for.. probably 5 or 6 years. Great tablet. Model is CTH670.

Sometime last year the tablet just.. stopped working. As in, it would not light up/turn on when plugged into a computer and the computer would not register it being there. I have tried different cables, different ports, different computers.

My suspiscion after years of wear and tear, the USB port on the tablet is broke and loose. Not loose as in loose from the tablet/motherboard and slides in, but the little tab.. thing, inside the port itself. Plugged in cords tend to wiggle a bit loose and sort of tilt upwards.

After so many years of use I realize I could/should just buy a new tablet, but any Intuos in the same size range as the Create are currently too expensive. I'm considering buying a used Create (about 150) but I'm curious if I can fix this one for cheaper.

I'm assuming all that probably needs to be done is the USB port be replaced. Does anyone have any experience bringing a tablet like this to, say, a local computer repair shop? Is this worth contacting Wacom for, will they repair a tablet that hasn't been made for years? Is there any way to salvage this?

I got a new tablet when this broke on Amazon for like 60 bucks and after less than a year it already broke (get what you pay for I guess). Before it just stopped, the Bamboo was still working flawlessly. I just don't want to start throwing money at it to MAYBE fix it if I can't.

Thank you!
