The Haunting of Deck Twelve: Okay guys I started this episode three days ago, and I’m just now getting around to finishing it. I got about 10 minutes in and was just not invested. Plus a whole zero of you are going to care but Chelsie Memmel is making a gymnastics come back eight years after retiring and her training vlogs are the most wholesome thing I’ve ever seen in my life, so I’ve been watching those constantly.
But here we are with Voyager. The camera angle for the conversation between Neelix and Tuvok is super awkward. Who directed this? Oh it was Livingston he’s one of the best...
Yes Harry somebody might need Neelix in the kitchen. Excellent plan.
I would not give Celeste a phaser now of all times, if ever.
I didn’t love this. To be fair I didn’t go in with the best attitude. But it wasn’t creepy enough to be creepy, and Voyager can do creepy really really well. They have before. But this wasn’t it. I am also not a fan of the structure where a character is telling a story to other characters. It didn’t make a ton of cohesive sense either, as big mini borg pointed out.
Unimatrix Zero part 1: Ouch they are not being nice to Tom. Oh just kidding it’s wholesome. I’m grinning ear to ear.
Ugh... TUVOK. Quit it with the mind melds!
Something tells me, mostly the borg queen, that Harry is about to have a straight up not good time.
There are lots of little details in this episode that get called back to, like Tom getting his pip back. Before the mind meld, Janeway said that last time she did one she had a headache for two weeks which Chakotay asks her about after the meld. So that was good.
Awe there goes Tom’s favourite shuttle...
This is a big blowout space battle, which is not my favourite thing to watch. But all in all, part one was a good episode and now I’m mildly curious about the next one, but I’m not frantically pressing play.
Part two: how did they manage to not get all borgy?
I wish Seven would tell somebody about what happened. This romantic relationship between her and the other guy is super uncomfortable to me. It came out of nowhere, she didn’t really remember it. Seven has experienced so much trauma and abuse this is such a mess.
You can see that the doctor is hurt by the fact that she likes Axum, even when he is trying to encourage her to explore the relationship. Which is still creepy. People are so creepy with Seven. Is anyone else creeped out when they kiss? I just want Seven to have a happy relationship with someone her own age where the power balance is equal. Like he presented himself to her in what she thought was a dream. He could pull her here whenever he wanted when she was regenerating.
Cute episode in general. But if destroying the Borg was this easy why didn’t Picard do it AGES ago? It wasn’t my favourite finale/intro combo. I prefer the less fighty, more emotional episodes. And not emotional like Seven trying to go out with the creepy dude.
