Long Time Star Trek Fan Finally Watches Voyager: Season 6 episodes 22-24
Post Body

I tried to post this yesterday but my internet said no. But give me a couple days because the next one is a finale/intro combo and I always put those off.

Muse: he’s been CUTTING HER.

She survived with that severe of injuries, unconscious, for EIGHT DAYS?

Okay once we moved past that it was a good B’Elanna episode. I liked the play actors. B’Elanna did do some serious prime directive violating though. Like more than we usually do on Voyager and that’s saying something. She got so lucky the poet didn’t ask about her pyrotechnics in her “ship.” Also what did that lead actress think she would accomplish by revealing B’Elanna as a god? Why was she mad that her boyfriend had found a god?

When Harry popped out of a tree I was so happy. It was just a big ol smiley moment. And I think B’Elanna learned something about doing something to for someone else and expecting nothing in return. The whole time she was bargaining with him, using her experience as currency. I also think it was a good lesson for B’Elanna that her experiences on Voyager have value in the first place.

The mini sub plot where Tuvok stayed up for two weeks trying to find them was also funny and light. He was just doing his best for his crew. And Tom could have played a trick on him but instead he gently tried to wake him without anyone else noticing.

Fury: must we? Like do you we have to?

What are we even watching? She’s like a witch. A witch addicted to warp energy. This is going to be one of those episodes where we undo everything that happens, right?

This effect just doesn’t quite work because they all have very different bodies than they did in season one. Not in a good or bad way but they just don’t look the same and it breaks you right out. If they tried to remake this now I don’t think they’d have the same issue because CGI is amazing. But even’s Janeway’s hair is less fluffy.

Add to Voyager’s list of favourite words: Tachyons.

Also Kes has no right to be angry about how she left Voyager. But her life did go downhill after she was possessed by this alien.

Man the Vidiians are just as terrifying now as they were when I first watched them. But then they had very little to do with what happened in this episode.

It’s really hard to go back to watching Kes after seeing Seven. I loved Kes when she was on the series but now Seven is just such a stronger character and it’s a better show. It’s more artistic and creative. Usually when I write, “Oh we’re gonna undo everything we just did,” the show finds a way to surprise me. But not this time, we really just went and undid everything they did in the first few minutes. And it was really not that creative of a sabotage.

Life Line: let’s try this again since I didn’t love our first go at it. GUYS IT’S BARCLAY! And it’s the real Dr.Zimmerman!

“You find that amusing?” “A little, NOT REALLY.” This is a fantastic exchange.

I love Leonard the iguana and the spy fly. And I’m glad Janeway and Chakotay are starting the conversation of what happens when the Maquis get back. I see no reason a 6 year mission isn’t punishment enough but ya know, some of them are war criminals.

“Jerks,” said the iguana.

I can’t believe I feel bad for this guy when he’s in pain after the awful way he has treated his assistant and Barclay. The EMH was a jerk to him also so I don’t feel bad about how he treated him. The man refused treatment. Let him alone.

I love the conversation here that the holograms are real to us. I wish Odo were here.

Traditional therapy wasn’t getting us anywhere, so instead we nearly destroyed your program to get you to cooperate. Man this whole episode had ridiculous ethics and felt incredibly invasive.

We didn’t go anywhere with Janeway and Chakotay. What was the point of that scene?

I liked this episode. Wasn’t as good as message in a bottle but I love seeing Dr.Zimmerman on screen. I also liked Barclay in this episode. And I’m glad that EMH had to confront some of his arrogance. He’s not as bad as Julian, but he did teleport to the alpha quadrant to treat someone who didn’t want treatment without actually asking.
