I canât believe I keep missing episodes. I never missed DS9 episodes and I was doing it the same way! So two blogs today! Look out for another longer one.
Course: Oblivion: I am screaming. Although why heart and soul for a wedding, Harry? Come on!
Is Tom a Lieutenant again? Ah but who cares at this point? Now, Tom!
Doctor: Congratulations! Seven: on what? Tuvok: you may not want to know.
Man they really just walked in, got married and walked out.
AHHH why werenât we expecting this at some point? I guess I thought Demon was a one off episode. This was a cool idea to bring back.
That was a little heartbreaking. Or a lot. Somewhere in between. Because if you think all the way back to Demon, all they wanted to do was exist. And they got this far, and suddenly nothing. Now they donât have life, let alone sentience.
From an overall perspective, I liked the episode but it wasnât stellar. It just wasnât their best uncanny valley situation. I would have liked more of a chance to figure it out or guess for myself. I also feel like fake BâElannaâs death wasnât as devastating as it could have been, so I lost some of that emotional depth.
The Fight: itâs been so long since we got a Chakotay episode! Why is he always being taken over by aliens?
Oh COME ON with the spirit quest thing! But the crew members in these hallucinations were excellent, especially the doctor.
As always I think Chakotay has an excellent actor and itâs a joy to watch him on screen. That said very little happened in this episode. It would have been better if they had a B story, and we havenât had a B story in a while on Voyager. I like a good simple solution, like Chakotay simply entering a new course given to him by the friendly aliens in his head. I just would have just liked to see something else going on. Tom was essentially just sitting at the con this whole time waiting. We knew he was impatient. What a great opportunity for him to learn something about patience.
The doctor also didnât shine for me here. He went from âWe canât do that to him,â to âChakotay you HAVE to let yourself go crazy,â in no time flat. I donât mind him changing his stance here (although when Chakotay said enough it should have been enough. In this case at least they were facing imminent destruction and not just saying âWell we should probably keep her in case someone else canât take over, sheâs a good engineer.â
