These are really good episodes, too. Iâm annoyed I forgot to post them before I posted the ones from this morning- I thought I had caught up to where I actually am.
Waking Moments: Hey Iâm less than two minutes in but Iâm 90% Tuvok is walking around the ship naked and everyone is about to live out some nightmares in real life. OH and 7 and Harry are about to be in a compromising position, arenât they...? Oh of COURSE she said resistance is futile. The writers have been waiting a whole season to make that joke, havenât they?
Oh GOD thereâs a thing in the elevator. This episode is fantastic so far. That was a top notch opener.
Tuvokâs nightmare compared to the others was pretty hysterical. âI donât suppose I should ask why you were UNdressed...â âI would prefer that you didnât.â
Darn it, this is one of those âall in on Chakotayâs religion episodes...â
Silly Chakotay heâs taking you towards their space not away from it. I donât know why this occurred to nobody.
That was an excellent stand alone episode. Low consequence, interesting. Required clever thinking, teamwork, and we got some insight into the crewâs thinking. It was funny, we got to see all the characters. I donât have a lot of deep thoughts but I really enjoyed this.
Message in a bottle: First of all, fitting title.
Iâm am so pumped about this. Iâm so pumped about intersecting with DS9âs dominion plot a little. And the doctors together- âIâm a doctor, not a commando.â We even got the new uniform detail which really threw me for one in DS9.
Is Prometheus the ship a reference to Prometheus the alien movie?
We also got âIâm a pilot, Harry, not a doctor!â Voyager is WAY more generous with this joke than the other series (aside from TOS, of course).
Unrelated, I love BâElannaâs lab coat. It adds some maturity and professionalism to her outfit. But holy crap it must have been so hot on set.
This new doctor would make a terrible doctor. Just saying. He seems like the type to freak out at the site of blood. Although then again the EMH on Voyager was exactly like that on his first couple of serous encounters. This is hysterical. I canât put all the quotes here but it was brilliant.
And awe, Star Fleet wants them to know they are no longer alone.
Hunters: itâs the letter episode! Iâve seen a clip from this, up to âSomething terrible has happened.â Janewayâs acting as she reads hers is excellent.
This is a really good episode for looking at who the characters were before met them. Tuvok had a family. Tom and BâElanna very much did not. Harry is very committed to his girlfriend and this could be devastating for him.
Watching Tom and BâElanna comfort each other was both sweet and heartbreaking.
Chakotay asks Janeway how she felt about her fiance marrying someone else and Iâm just astounded that the response was anything other than âEffing devastated, how would you feel?â I mean, of course they were going to move on. Itâs been four years after all. But that doesnât mean it doesnât hurt like all hell.
Janeway was never alone. I donât like the way the writers tried to make her out as this lonely soul. Tuvok and her have one of the closest friendships on Star Trek. 7 right now is alone. The Doctor is alone. But Janeway has plenty of support and Chakotay would love her in a heartbeat if she would let him.
Prey: so I wasnât taking notes as I watched most of this but I do remember one thing stuck out to me like crazy. Why did we wait until we ordered Seven to do something we knew she wasnât going to do to address the insubordination? Sheâs never been subordinate but you let her get away with it until you give her an actually challenging decision!
I like Janewayâs morals here and she really sticks to it, which I appreciate. They had no reason to kill that creature. That said, there was also really no reason for Voyager to be involve in this hunt at all. Put em both on a shuttle or a planet (specifically separate shuttles or planets) and let them duke it out or not. I support that, if it were safe to do so, we should help the fluid species get back to the fluid dimension. But it was not safe and she risked her entire crew for it and Iâm not on the same page. Again, I appreciate her morals but she could have killed everyone to save that one guy and to have a little vulcan moment, itâs illogical.
Do I even need to say that I disagree with what 7 did? Itâs funny because I think her decision was better than Janewayâs (although not the best possible option). But I 100% believe in standing by the captain unless they are attempting to commit a war crime (ahem- Sisko...). Janeway talks about how individuality has limits in the last scene. I donât think itâs that at all. Individuality carries responsibility. 7 had every right to believe in the course of action she took. But she had a responsibility to Janeway, to the crew, and to that creature not to assert that course of action.
