Remember: well THAT is not wear I thought that was going. We went from having sensual dreams to uncovering genocide.
I like BāElanna more and more as we go. Sheās better rounded. Still emotional, still lashes out, but more thoughtful, and I think her moral compass has been dialed in to more comfortable federation values. Is that always the right answer? No. But it does make her a lot more likable to my human self.
Sacred Ground: ah, the Star Fleet equivalent of āCan I speak to the manager? Iām going to sue.ā
Who would have guessed that I would say this, but... there were no consequences! Yes, Kes got knocked out and could have died. But she wasnāt hurt in the end. And she did invade a sacred space because she heard a sound. And JANEWAY was the one who got to learn a lesson? Look, I really did like the message of the episode. And I liked the personal growth for Janeway. But Kes got distracted, wandered away from her tour group, and entered sacred space that she wasnāt meant to go. And weāre not even going to address that?
Iām all for learning about trust and faith but Chakotay was also a little inconsistent. āI could declare you grossly unfit for duty but you seem committed so I wonāt.
Futureās End (Parts one and two): I donāt love the time travel episodes throughout Star Trek series. Thatās pretty consistent with me throughout. DS9 had a couple that were good but they didnāt make my favourites. This is definitely not an exception to that. Itās not a bad episode. There are some pretty obvious inconsistencies though. Even if someone had access to a 29th century database, thereās no way the technology would be compatible. Even if it was, thereās no way some random dude was going to know how to make it work or what to do with it when he did.
The doctor had some really top notch moments in this episode though. Super funny. I hope he gets to keep that device it would unlock a whole new world for him.
Of course Tom fell in love with the girl in the past. I found her a little annoying. She also fits a trope I didnāt notice from these sorts of episodes before which is the love interest from the past who āisnāt like anyone Iāve met before.ā Maybe thatās part of the reasons I dislike this kind of episode. Tom finally gets a girl
Warlord: Man guys I was SO excited for Kes standing up for herself for a minute there... really awkward time to do it, but ya know you go.
Itās a little difficult for me to believe Kesās character in this episode. Itās like when they dressed up Ezri in leather for DS9 in the mirror universe and tried to make her seem like more of that bad-ass type character. It just doesnāt work for me. Itās also frustrating because I just love who Kes is already. Is she the strongest or the most interesting character? No. But she has a beautiful soul and spirit. The scene where she argued with Tiran in her mind did not feel like her.
I did like Tuvok in this episode. Gotta love that Vulcan discipline. Other than that it was a pretty lackluster episode. I canāt believe Iām saying this but it was a typical possessed by aliens, jailbreak rescue mission. I find it interesting that Tom and Chakotay were the strike team while Tuvok was incapacitated. Chakotay makes sense. Tom is a little random but I do like when heās involved.
At least Janewayās hair is becoming more realistic (although apparently for one of you it was already attainable). Mine is still not able to get that fluffy, itās too fine and brittle, but I do regularly wear it in twists like that.
