Have a beats, unsure whether to get a keys or a bass...
Post Body

I have a midi keyboard (roland a-33) and need a synth module, so it's either the keys or the bass (I don't really want both).

I think the keys would be best since its polyphonic and I can play with both hands at once. I also really like that the keys has a 64 note pattern (1/4 tempo), since I play a lot of progressive music that would benefit from this.

From playing with the keys and the bass at the shop, I like the bass a lot more because I find it much easier to use. I still haven't managed to find a sound I like in the keys. I will mostly use the volcas at home, but I want to be able to take them to the park and have a jam with a friend.

Questions:

  • Does the keys get easier to use the more you learn it?
  • Can you make record really good basslines with the keys and then play melodies over the top?
  • Is the 1/4 tempo mode as useful as it looks?

Sorry if this question has been asked a dozen times.
