Idle/unused VMs

Hi Guys,
How do you look for idle/unused VMs in your inventory?
We have vRops and tried to use its Idle VMs Report, but we are not sure how much reliable it is.
Is there any other simple way we can establish from vCenter/vRops whether a VM is in use or not?
