Need Help re-constructing a VMWare Workstation 17.0.0 Pro VM Template Without destroying linked clones already made

Post Body

Hello:

I am currently on Workstation 17.0.0 on Windows 11 Pro x64 and have created a template VM of Windows Server 2003 R2 with all relevant updates installed. I have created several snapshots of this VM based on certain configurations depending on my needs for the resultant clones.

I have created several linked clones based on a snapshot of the above-mentioned template VM and noticed that there is an issue with an update and want to roll that update back if at all possible in the template without breaking the existing linked clones.

What I am trying to avoid here is a situation where I need rebuild the template from scratch and then rebuild all the linked clones from the newly-rebuilt template. I'd like to modify the current template while preserving the existing linked clones and make whatever modifications to the linked clones individually.

I hope my situation makes sense and I am willing to expand on it if need be.
