What is WAYRStats?

I'm so glad you asked in such an incredibly convenient and properly formatted manner! WAYRStats is a data science script written in Python that passes a search query to the Reddit API and processes the results. In plain English, my script passes a string to Reddit to run as a search on /r/visualnovels; this search string isolates and returns nothing but the WAYR threads. Using this fucking mountain of data I get as a result I can go through ALL that information, parse it in various ways, and set up basically whatever leaderboards/metrics/analytics I (or you!) could want.

Conclusions

Yeah, so yeah I DEFINITELY broke my wrist at the top of August. To answer the most common questions, it happened while roller skating, my newest hobby for the summer (2x2s, not 1x4s); fell backwards on the sidewalk and caught myself with my right hand oh so wrong and before you know it I'm sitting in the ER for 4 hours. It was a corner fracture of my right ulna, one of the two bones in the arm responsible for wrist rotation. Additionally, I needed surgery to keep the bone set, as I either had to immobilize my entire arm for 2 months and hope it sets properly or just get in there and bolt it in place. Over three grand later in medical bills I am safe and sound, I've started physical therapy and at this point I'd say I have 80% of my range of motion back, with things getting better every day. I don't think I'll be giving up skating for good but I will definitely be investing heavily into a pair of wrist guards haha. I once again apologize for the month delay into these two back-to-back posts, but as one can imagine I've been up to my neck over the past couple months. And so I'll end things with a little teaser, tune in tomorrow for the September leaderboards with some more life news, this time on a much more positive note!
