Even though you can clearly see the budgets of all of them were nonexistent and they were all clearly made on a hope and a prayer, there was a ton of charm about the combination of the rougher artwork, the late 90s/early 2000s aesthetic, the more minimalistic and endlessly looping soundtracks, and the backgrounds that are obviously real life photographs that have been endlessly filtered in releases such as the original Tsukihime, Higurashi, and Tsui no Sora that I feel is missing in more modern and higher budget productions.
I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling like this, right? Are there any more recent releases that also try to capture an atmosphere like this?
