Hello everyone! I'd like to make several announcements concerning the subreddit:

Template Designer

We've brought /u/Cheesydude onboard to redesign the subreddit template. Feel free to welcome him in the comments, and ask questions as needed.

Concerning the redesign: The community suggestions from the previous thread have been aggregated by vote count and are in a modmail topic for reference while working on the new design. We need to make a few functional considerations (mostly concerning our existing sidebar content and affiliation with /r/SingularityNetwork) but otherwise I think the comments in the thread have been well received and we'll be working towards a less jarring, but still unique theme.

New Positions

I'd like to announce several positions that are opening on the subreddit:

Traditional Moderators

• We're looking for two traditional moderators.
  
• You'll have all the rights and responsibilities of a traditional moderator, nothing really special.
• Responsibilities: Traditional moderation... approving posts, removing spam, moderating broadly off-topic content... that sort of thing. See our submission guidelines for more details on what's expected.

Event Coordinator

• We're looking for one event coordinator.
• In the early days of the subreddit, we attempted to have a "weekly discussion" sort of event. Since we've got a broader community now, I'd like to reach out and see if there's anyone that could really take that idea and run with it... expanding it further by not only having weekly discussions (though there's nothing wrong with that), but also reaching out to get AMAs with people in the Virtual Reality/Virtual Worlds industry, maybe organizing meetups in virtual worlds... that sort of thing.
  
• This will be experimental -- if this is successful, we may bring on additional moderators for this role in the future.
• Responsibilities: Organizing/hosting /r/virtualreality subreddit events. For now, let's shoot for a goal of at minimum 2 events a month.

Your nomination will be public for transparency, so that our community is free to see a full list of applicants. Community, you are encouraged to interact with the nominees and comment if you have any questions/concerns/support for them. Please do so in this thread, and do so with civility -- these nominees are looking to volunteer their time to improve our community. Abuse will not be tolerated.
