New to VF, help guide me in the right direction

Hi,
I've never played VF before, and I'm gonna give it a shot tonight after work. I'm hoping I can get some feedback on which characters to try first that'll suit my usual play style. I main Kano in MK, and in Tekken I switch between Steve Fox and Brian Fury. I'm pretty patient and look for openings instead of just rushing forward. Are there any characters that would catch my attention? Thank you!
