Asking someone to just be confident totally dismisses the fact that genuine confidence isn't something you can instantly switch on. If so, don't you think all of us here would be confident? We all want to be confident but we can't force ourselves to be if it's not natural.
For adult virgins especially, confidence will take quite a long time to develop; you need to have a history of success to reinforce your belief that you can attract someone, it won't be confident but rather arrogant of you to be so self-assured if you never succeeded in the past.
I refuse to listen to dating advice from anyone who would simplify the process of scoring a date or a lay to "just be confident". I'd rather be told to build my confidence, that makes more sense than "just be confident".
It's not advice per se. It's more an indication that you should shut up and know your place.
Male loneliness is generally perceived as bothersome bordering on criminality so expressions of it tend to be met with varying degrees of derision.

Male loneliness is generally perceived as bordering on criminality so they want you to lay down and die quietly rather than taking up valuable air by complaining. 🤷🏻♂️
