Just looking to vent.
I'm so fed up with the way these poor kids get treated. I'm so sick of the mombaos f-ing screaming at their kids over the smallest mistake. I've witnessed physical abuse as well, but verbal abuse incidents happen almost daily. It feels like the frequency of these incidents is starting to take a toll on my ever-tenuous mental health.
Even if I have 9 wonderful classes in a day, it's the tenth -with a crying kid and yelling parent- that sticks in my brain. Even after 3 years of doing this, it still gets to me.
Today, it was a happy regular who had her class interrupted by her mom, who seemingly took great personal offense to the way her daughter was pronouncing "winter." The poor thing spent the rest of the class blinking away tears as mombao intermittently yelled the answers from the other room, or came in to scream in her ear.
All the smiles, "good job" 's, and fun rewards in the world can't fix that kind of treatment. I know it's not our fault, but it hard not to feel complicit sometimes, continuing on with the lesson as a kid's hopeless eyes stare back at you.
Sending virtual hugs to anyone else who had a bad experience today.
