Also, what I am getting a glimpse of which I will try to explain although it maybe difficult. I am glimpsing that we are that conditioned & caught up in the meaning of our thoughts & feelings that the majority of the populations are just disconnected & we spend 99.9% unconscious & constantly caught up in our minds. to be some kind of way to observe the body & not what I thought meditation was supposed to be. I thought meditation was about losing yourself & sort of going into a trance. I stumbled across Vipassana once again when i was reading an article called The 10 StEPs of Emotional Processing found here http://pairadocks.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-10-steps-of-emotion-processing.html This article was interesting to me as I have a problem dealing with my emotions & have been known to use alcohol to deal with negative emotions so I thought maybe practising these steps would help. It mentions 'The Feeling is Always Temporary' & the following
Those who use the Vipassana style of insight or "mindfulness" meditation come to see in time that all emotions, sensations and feelings are impermanent: They arise, become evident, dissipate and disappear in time. Moreover, they come to see that when emotions, sensations and feelings are allowed to be *as* they are *when* they are, the coming and going of them is more rapid and less discomfiting and agitating.
I really liked the sound of this & it made perfect sense. I looked on YouTube & found the following video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXXJRCCtoCk&t=338s which gives you an how to practice falling & rising technique. I have tried it a few times & it actually feels like something I could get into the habit of doing & it actually makes sense which no other techniques that I have tried really have done. I can see your training yourself to watch the sensations, label them & let them go.
Can anyone give me their experience of Vipassana & whether they find it a good technique & any pointers / advice?

Also when you successfully get to a point where your in control of your thoughts & you are a confidant meditator does it feel as if there is a paradigm shift? I imagine its like when your in your office & you have no idea that the air conditioning is on until it is switched off & then you realise or your not really aware that your breathing but if suddenly you were starved of oxygen you would obviously notice. I get the feeling that this is what meditation is like once you have mastered the art of it?
