Hi friends, it’s been a goal of mine for sometime to attend a 10-day vipassana course. When I applied most recently, I obviously provided a thorough breakdown of my mental health history. I indicated that I have Autism Spectrum Disorder in addition to recurring panic attacks, depressive episodes and obsessive compulsive thoughts. Recently, suicide has been on my mind even though I’ve never made a plan or done shutting to hurt myself. I’ve never been hospitalized for a mental health condition, but I have had to meet with medical professionals and currently take medication to help manage my conditions. Today I got a letter from the organizers indicating that due to concerns about my safety, they are declining my application and this is a source of confusion for me, as I understand that the main conditions they’re looking to weed out are bipolar and schizophrenia (due to the risk of psychosis). I’m wondering if anyone can give me any further clarity about this and whether I should bother applying again?
