I've seen a few people om this subreddit and even other platforms question others for their number of fine tuners or even themselves and it's quite sad to see. Let me tell you guys this now. Your fine tuners don't determine your skill level or how professional you are. It's your playing that does.
The reason why some people have 1 fine tune is that not always because they are professionals, it's because fine tuners usually tend to restrict the sound, especially when you are performing or just to make the sound carry through. Some people have tailpieces that are designed to have 4 fine tuners and taking them off will look really weird.
Some people have 4 fine tuners because they are comfortable with it or there isn't really a need to take them off. Not all of those people are beginners. Some are past beginner level.
People of this subreddit, it doesn't matter what level you are on. You can remove even all your fine tuners and be at any level. Heck, you can remove them in any order you want to. Do what youbare comfortable with. Not what others are.
EDIT: As some people have said in the comment section, a YouTube channel, TwoSetViolin were talking about soloists and their fine tuners, at one point even themselves and how the number of fine tuners defines your level. Guys, please don't take this to heart. It was either a misunderstanding or a joke that too many people took too seriously.
This! My acoustic violin has 2 fine tuners, but my electric has 4. I’ve noticed my electric going out of tune a lot easier than my acoustic, so having those tuners (regardless of skill level) has saved my ass plenty of times.
