I’m a professional violinist. I’ve been an assistant concertmaster for 5 years and now a freelance violinist. My arm length has always been super short so I’ve recently switched to a 7/8 violin. That was the best decision of my life. I could jump positions like no one ever. First time I’ve felt like I was in a 6’footer’s height and arm length.
The only downside is, the sound. It’s too narrow and small compared to my original violin. Sometimes when I play at gigs I sound like a 5 year old prodigy if that makes sense. Makes me sad. I’d like to know your opinion if it matters
