Does knowledge of other stringed instruments help when learning to play the violin?
Post Body

I hope this is the right place to ask. I read the FAQ, but couldn't quite find the answer there.

For context: I play the guitar, bass, banjo and mandolin (most of which I learned to play as a child). I've always heard folks say it can be difficult to learn to play the violin at a later age, but I'm determined to give it a go anyway. Yet, I couldn't help but wonder if my knowledge of other stringed instruments might make it slightly easier for me to learn to play the violin? I realise none of the instruments I play are bowed, but I figured perhaps my left-hand coodination, or my familiarity with GDAE tuning through the mandolin, might be helpful.

To any other multi-instrumentalists on here, what was your experience when switching to the violin?
