Sleeve Seam Starting To Separate: Would You Tape?

The sleeve on my beloved copy of Willie Nelson's album Shotgun Willie is starting to separate on the top and bottom right hand corners where the disc slides in. It's only going to get worse. I love the album and will not be selling it any time soon but it is somewhat rare and I can only imagine that taping the sleeve even slightly will cause the value to go down. My question is would you all apply some tape to the sleeve and if so what tape would you want to use for this.
