Question on Realistic Modulette 8 model 8 track player.

I recently picked up a Realistic Modulette 8- 8 track player, which seems to have a working radio, but having some problems regarding the 8 track mechanism, in which it is only stuck on the 4 setting, even when I repeatedly press the program button. It’s done this with multiple tapes, even those who are not finished with the album.
Has anyone experienced this problem with this model of player? If so, what can be done to correct it?
