Unhappy HK PM655 - phones, phono, and speakers do not work
Post Body

So I got this amp on eBay. The speaker knob was very loose, but otherwise the the condition appeared to be good. Then I turned it on, plugged in my headphones and my iPod, and my worst fears were realized. The sound was extremely muddled and scratchy, and eventually it stopped producing any noise. Speaker terminals yield to no effect. Phono and tuner and cd sections gave no noise, even when connected to my Nikko Alpha 2 via the separate function. Then I used the tape feature. Still nothing from either the headphone out or the speakers, but... When I used the tape 1 with the pre out and my Alpha, it produced sound, pretty well actually. All the tone controls and what-not on the thing worked fine (except for the balance, it was pretty scratchy). I opened it up, and although dusty, the insides look good (nothing burned or popped off).

Conclusion: power thing-a-ma-jig does not work, neither does the source board (including phono). I really wanted my vinyl!

What do you guys think is wrong, and what can I do to fix it? Thanks a ton!
