New Outlander here, 12 Encounters under my belt. I’m having a blast so far and played with a few friends for the first time today. Way less stress in Vigor than in WarZone (that’s a low bar for sure, haha)!
However, last game of the night, a duo was in the lobby. One has an emblem for having killed 500 Outlanders, and the other had one for killing 1,000 . I guarantee both of them viewed the lobby/Outlander stats if they’re that experienced, and knew the rest if the lobby was new.
Anyway, none of us three have any kills yet, we’re still looting to get our shelters running. We were all dead in less than two minutes of the encounter’s start. We got totally steamrolled by these two douche bags who knew they were curb stomping a lobby of new players.
Based on that experience, we learned there isn’t any SBMM in Vigor, LOL. While SBMM has it’s plusses and minuses, having some form of it for players under a specific number of Encounters may be nice so we can learn the ropes and loot enough to have a few halfway decent guns to fight with. Just throwing that out there...
EDIT: So I’m not going to edit the OP because then comments made below wouldn’t make sense. That having been said...
After sleeping on it (literally), and thinking about things some this morning, I think I agree with those who oppose my OP. While it would be nice to have SBMM for a longer period during the learning process, I think I’d end up as a lazy player with bad habits that would only serve to frustrate me more in the long run. Why? Because that’s what got me killed by these two guys in the first place, LOL. The last few Encounters we played, we weren’t as cautious as we should have been, because we have newer players with us.
We ran across the map rather than planning things out more, and didn’t face any opposition anywhere. Those few rounds fell inside the “10 Encounter safety zone,” and I think they lulled us into a false sense of security. I’d rather get slammed early on like we did and learn our lesson before we got set in our ways. So I stand corrected. Thanks for calling me out, everybody. Vigor is a different game than I’m used to, and I just need to change how I view it. Looking forward to the learning process as we go forward!
