Until service pack 3 using XP's built in burning support always failed for me. I don't remember if it launched with burning support or if it was added with a service pack.

The CD format was published in 1980 while the first draft of the MP3 standard was introduced in 1991 and published in 1993. Music CDs use uncompressed audio at 44.1 khz with a 16 bit resolution. The audio is sampled 44,100 times a second, and each sample is represented by a 16 bit number.
