This weekend will be my first time operating a large format broadcast camera (grass valley canon digisuper 95).
I’ve worked on DSLR and Prosumer shoots, although i’ve mainly been on the postproduction & editing side, I’ve only been on the capture side a handful of times.
This is my very first time using a large format camera, and I’ll be filming a live event inside of a large stadium from a locked off position at front of house.
The main entertainment is a fast-moving popstar with a lot of dancers. I’ve already had a chance to play with the camera and set the tensions and balance in the neighborhood of something that feels comfortable, but I’m wondering if anybody out there can give me a few tips for surviving this weekend? I am used to comm and will be one of four cameras being directed from backstage.
Humor is fine, but keep in mind that I’m nervous as hell!
