Is it easier to land a videography/filmmaking job with Sony FX3 rather than BMPCC 6K Pro?
Post Body

Both of these cameras are great, and I feel I've probably read and watched most of the comparisons between the two. The thing is that my main thing now is professional video editing, but I've been looking more into the filmmaking direction lately.

I know that at some point in the future, I want to get a camera that I'd want to use for some creative filmmaking, YouTube, or any other personal stuff. But then, I'd also want to have a camera that'd allow me to earn money professionally. If there comes a time when I have to really land a gig, when I need to shoot a wedding or work as a 2nd shooter, I'd want a camera that would be more suitable for the job.

At first, I really loved 6K Pro. I really loved the low price, the image quality, the internal ND's, etc.

But then I thought "Hey, if I would really need to land a gig or a job, it would probably be easier to do with FX3". I think the 6K Pro is a great camera for personal creative projects, but when it comes to work and making money, I'd probably prefer to have the FX3.

I know that 6K Pro has a slightly better image than FX3, but then I also have to remember that people were shooting great videos and movies on simple cameras, even iPhones. The lighting, the script, the directing, all these matters much more than a camera.

FX3 is a bit more expensive, but I think it's worth spending a bit more if when applying to some 2nd shooter gig I'll hear "Hey, what are you shooting with, Sony? I shoot on Sony too, let's work!"

I think it works the same with video editing. You can edit your personal stuff in iMovie, Camtasia, Sony Vegas, or any other software. But if you need the job, you have to know how to edit in Premiere/DaVinci Resolve/FCP/AVID.

And I'm not saying that it would be impossible to land a job with 6K Pro, but I expect it would be much harder to do. Although I also think it depends on what kind of job I'm applying for, right?

So, I really wanted to ask, am I missing something here? I'd really love to hear other opinions and learn some wisdom

You have a better chance at getging a job if you are good at using the camera.
