old novice needs advice.

I have been contemplating getting a system. I haven't really played any video games since super Nintendo. Yeah its been a while.
I loved games like Mario Brothers and Zelda. I have 0 interest in playing again other people, the idea of having to talk to strangers over a head set and god forbid being the weakest link. *cringe *
I am at a total loss as to what to get though.
