BLUF: What fan-made content was made because the creator hated the source material? Example is Snoot Game to Goodbye Volcano High.
Hey all,
This is such a weird question and I'm struggling to answer it. The long and short of it is, I'm interested in what would compel someone to not only draw, code and write but also release a game purely because another game was coming out. It's deeply fascinating to me and I wanted to write something on this quirk of fan culture.
The game itself I'm observing and about to play is Snoot Game. Snoot Game is, from all I've found, a game created by a member of 4chan who was so incensed by how LGBTQ positive Goodbye Volcano High's (GVH) trailer was that he ripped assests, he traced promotional material and coded a simple game where the non-binary main character of GVH has to learn to 1) stop being nonbinary and 2) embrace a "natural" role beside the anon character of Snoot Game or they'll shoot up the school/die of an overdose. (Spoilered for just reprehensible opinions on the LGBTQ community)
While I could go forward with just this material, I thought I might look at other spite games, cause I have to imagine there are some others right?
So, I turn to you, Reddit: What fan projects were made out of hate for the source material?
