I've been gaming, like most of you, all of my life. I think everyone can relate to the fact that gaming today is simultaneously at an all-time high in terms of technology, but an all-time low with enjoyment. Companies don't care about the end user they just want a cash grab (looking at you EA), and the communities are horrendous. Gone are the days of me sitting down just to casually play an FPS, now I have to break out the headset and sweat my ass off.
What is happening to gaming? Almost every gaming community I am a part of is toxic- league levels of toxicity is the standard now it seems. Post a highlight on reddit and get flooded with hate. God forbid you're new at a game and trying to learn...you will be eviscerated by the people who have played since day 1.
Is it streamers? Growing E-sports presence? I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are on the current state of gaming and why the community has grown so toxic.
AND YES I GREW UP IN MW2 LOBBIES
