Which is the fastest way to modernize China? Although I usually end being recognized (through war) and taking the 1-2 spot between the great powers (UK insanely amount of prestige for their navy is quite a nightmare) and forming my own colonial empire and block (with Japan, Indochina, half central Asia and Siberia as puppets plus most of Africa), still feel in all my playthroughs to get left behind (by endgame I still starting researching for electricity or combustion engines, with SoL usually around 12-14 in best case and literacy not surpassing 40% even though I got universities in most states and have level 3 of education institution) and never having ended the China journal. Even though I won the opium wars, avoid the heavenly kingdom and successfully completed the boxer rebellion (this rarely, since by the time I researched political agitation, most of East Asia is already free of white imperialism). Shouldn't devs offer other alternatives for a China gameplay where you managed to keep things secure and stable?
