In the current system losing wars doesn’t have as much affect on pops and politics as it should historically .

Let me give an example, if I was to declare war on a country and send millions of men dying on the front and somehow lose the war my pops and IGs will just take the loss without a care in the world as long as it doesn’t take a toll on the economy. I can continuously lose wars and completely devastate my population but they never seem to care or question the government. This behavior is just unnatural and flat out dumb considering some of the biggest political changes happened purely out of radicalization from war exhaustion.

In my opinion winning defensive wars should boost loyalists amongst both IGs and pops but losing or being in a stalemate too long while raking up casualties should lead to radicalization,turmoil and disapproval of the government. In extreme cases this should even lead to revolutions or oppressed nations trying to break free. (looking at you Austria,Russia)

Diplomacy and politics should also go more hand in hand. What is the point of having IG groups that represent liberal pacifism yet continue to support the government if they go on unjust conquests?

Pacifist IG leaders should actually try pacifying the government by trying to make better relations with other countries and they should either disapprove of the government or become radicals if they choose to go to war.

The same goes for jingoist IG leaders, they should continuously push for war, expansion and damage relations with other countries. They should also continue to support ongoing wars no matter what but pops shouldn’t.

Pops should decide themselves whether they are jingoist or pacifist. Bringing military glory to the country should make pops more supportive of wars but losing them should make them denounce it and be against it.

There should be a strong power struggle between the government and the people after devastating their country, and there should be mechanics that can improve or worsen the situation and public trust. Pops at first should demand the abdication of the absolute monarch or demand a reformed government. As the situation is more severe the harder it should be to regain the trust of the pops.
