For a little BG, though, we started to incorporate more Houdini into the FX over time and then once the pandemic hit, we transitioned completely from a Max/Vray pipeline (Maya for rigging and anim) with Max/Houdini FX, to a Houdini/Renderman pipeline (Maya for modeling/rigging/anim and Houdini for FX/CFX/lighting). Converted in 6 months. It was a bit rough.

Actually, that changed over time on the CW show. If I remember correctly, by season 5, we were using Houdini for the lightning. Definitely by Season 6.
