Going to school at an older age
Post Body

Hey everyone! I just got into University of Knoxville, and I’ll be starting school in a little over 2 months. While I’m pretty excited, I’m also stressed and scared. I’m 39 years old, newly on my own (recently separated from my husband in the past year), and headed to live alone or with roommates while I start school.

One of my biggest fears is how my social life will fair. I love having friends and being around people, and I’m afraid the age gap is going to make that a huge issue. I’m already finding it difficult to find roommates due to the age difference.

So, my question is, do any of you have a similar experience? Or did any of you have friends in school that were close to my age? I just want some sort of idea of what to expect, realistically. It’s hard to leave everything I’ve ever known and start over in a new town. Thanks for your time if you respond!
